Lake Takanassee Summer Series 2006

The Lake Takanassee Summer Series for 2006 will be held once again around Lake Takanassee in Long Branch, NJ. This race series, which we believe to be the oldest in the country, was a regular stop for Dr. George Sheehan. Many great runners, including ...... have raced at the lake. As usual, the races are held on Monday evenings, with the kid's 1500 meter race at 6:30 PM and the 5K at 6:45 PM and the 5K racewalk at 6:47 PM. The first race of the season will be held on June 19th, the race slated for July 3rd will not be held (Independence Day weekend - we encourage you to run one of the area's road races), and the final race will be held on August 28th.

On site registration only. Kids 1500 is still only $1 per child. Open 5k is $4.00 for non-members and $2.00 for Shore Athletic Club members. Special offer: SAC membership + Lake Tak series for $25.00 -must sign up first two weeks of the series. Every week includes: 1500m for kids 14 and younger; open 5k run and open 5k racewalk. Overall and age group awards given. Come share the tradition.

Special races include:
June 19th (opening night) - KIDS FREE (under 14) in the 1500 meters race!
July 31st - Special OPEN 1500 meters race - time for the adults to test their speed!

Come share the tradition! See you there!

Joining USATF

In order to compete for Shore A.C. in most major meets, you MUST be a member of USATF with Shore A.C. designated as your affiliation. You can get information on joining USATF here. You must join USATF New Jersey Association

Online
You may join (or renew) USATF online here, but if you are outside of the USATF-NJ Association area (as designated by your zip code), you must join by mail (I think renewals may be done by those outside the area with your old member number). (South Jersey residents, please double check that it shows New Jersey Association - parts of south Jersey are shared by the Philly Area Association, and if you join the wrong association, it will be a headache!)
Shore A.C.'s club number is 101.
