Shore AC Masters Kick Off Indoor Season
Holiday Classic Track Meet, Friday December 29th, NYC Armory.
With the 100th Millrose just around the corner several candidates for the Masters 4x400 jumped into the 400. Leading the field was Keith Davis in 53.66 FAT with Bob Andrews close behind in 55.81. Rich Wallace who will be age 50 in January ran 60.65. Rick Lapp entered his time from LI meet in 60.35. Keith Davis also ran the 200 in 24.18 and the 60 dash in 7.64.
In the Open 800, Robby Andrews kicked into second place in his heat with a 2:03.69. Robby a sophomore at Manalapan HS is playing basketball this season. Tony Plaster, who just turned age 55 this week and entered a new age group, ran 2:19.65 to start his season off well. John Kuhi ran 2:51.23 and won the "Oldest Guy in the Race" award. Dave Friedman was happy with his HJ of 4'4" as he competed in LJ, 3.18 meters, and a fine 200 in 34.24. In the 3000 Mark Mellea made a fine comeback from injury, missing most of XC season, running 10:07. Tom Resch making his rare Armory appearance ran the 3000 in 12:10. Tom is coaching at Manchester HS and brought some of his athletes to the Armory.
